Well… that really happened.

Ever since I learned of the DC Fans Channel on YouTube, I said that I wanted to make it a goal of mine to be featured on their channel. I think most people on YouTube have goals and things they’d like to achieve… I have a number of them!  But this week, my DC Fans goal became reality when my video featured on their channel. 🙂

I reviewed the Batman comic No Mans Land Volume 1 for the channel, and it was honestly one of the coolest things I’ve been able to do since making videos. I thought they’d just put my video on their stream and it would get some views and maybe I’d get my face out there to some new people… but I didn’t count on any other social media plugs…. lol

Due to good old time zones, I was fast asleep when DC posted the video, and so I woke up in the morning to a text from my boyfriend who had screen capped the DC Comics Instagram account that had a snippet of my video….. my mug… talking about comics… on the DC comics account. Whaaaaaat? There was over 50,000 views on it (WTF!!) and that quickly bought me out of my half sleep, I can tell you that! haha

I then checked my Twitter and my amazing followers were tweeting at me what they’d seen on the DC Comics twitter account and it was all very exciting. If this experience has shown me anything, it’s that I am incredibly lucky to have some of the best Twitter followers anyone could ask for. Some of the best people you’ll find and I am lucky enough to call so many of you my friends. You’re always so supportive and excited for me as well when cool things happen and I love you so much for it.

I’ve also just seen tonight that I am on dccomics.com which I just cannot mentally compute. What is life right now? I don’t even know.

What a week. I am so happy. I feel pretty proud and incredibly grateful. I feel optimistic about the future and I believe that hard work pays off. But now I just have to work harder. And I will. 🙂

Thanks to everyone who tweets me nice things when you honestly don’t even have to – but you do anyway because you’re amazing people with kind hearts. You make my day, everyday.

The DC Fans channel is genuinely the coolest, and I suggest subscribing if you’re into comics and want to discover other people who love comics too. I have subscribed to so many content creators that I have discovered through videos featured on their channel and I think it’s such an amazing way to connect to people.

If you want to check out the video I did for DC Fans, that’d be really cool and you’re also supporting their channel at the same time, so huge hugs from me.

Comic Book Academy: The New 52

Hey hey!

I’ve recently started a weekly series called Comic Book Academy where I do videos for those new to the comic book community. You’ll find my first video in the series right here, and this is the second video in my series.

In this video, I talk about DC Comics and The New 52 and why it’s great when you’re new to comics. Next week I will be talking about Marvel Comics app Marvel Unlimited to balance the discussion out.

I hope you enjoy this video. If you’re new to comics and you have any questions you’d like me to answer, feel free to let me know!

Lady Killer Volume 1 Review

Lady-Killer1-front-cover

Synopsis: Josie Schuller is a picture-perfect homemaker, wife, and mother—but she’s also a ruthless, efficient killer for hire! A brand-new original comedy series that combines the wholesome imagery of early 1960s domestic bliss with a tightening web of murder, paranoia, and cold-blooded survival.

I recently finished reading Volume 1 of Lady Killer by Joelle Jones and Jamie S Rich and published by Dark Horse comics. I absolutely loved it and I talked about it in more detail on YouTube recently:

PaperGirls_Vol01-1

Hey everyone!

Recently I finished reading Volume 1 of Paper Girls, an Image Comic written by Brian K Vaughan and Cliff Chiang.

I posted my thoughts on this on YouTube – check it out!

So, you’re new to comics? That’s great!

Being new to comics is an amazing yet equally intimidating thing really… because you know you have found something that you’re genuinely really excited about, but you also tend to not really get where to start… and if you were anything like I was when I first started, I thought comic stores were intimidating. That’s cause back when I first started reading comics… well, they were.

Comic stores have come a long way since then in terms of trying to be more welcoming, educational (without being patronising) and helpful. But sometimes you still want to do some of the learning in the comfort of your own home before you’re even ready to venture out into the land of the comic book shop, am I right?

I am making a new series on my channel called Comic Book Academy, where we are going to talk all about the basics of comics, from how to tell what volume or issue you’re reading, to how to identify the genre you like, what the different comic companies do, what The New 52 means, digital comics vs physical comics, new comic book day and pull lists and more.

The reason I want to do this is because I know we talk a lot about comics for the existing comic book community out there but I want to be inclusive and helpful to people that might not have even picked up a comic book yet but are thinking they’d like to.

I am trying to make the types of videos I wanted to see myself when I started reading comics about  8 years ago. If it helps someone out there, I’ll be so happy.

If you have questions that I don’t cover, I want you to let me know as well so that I can talk about them. I know sometimes you might feel like your question is silly but please don’t…. know that I won’t judge and I am here to help you. Ask your questions here or on my youtube page, or message me on youtube if you’re shy, it’s okay!

Earth One Superman Volume 1 Review

superman

As someone that isn’t  a huge Superman fan, you don’t often see me review Superman titles, but Earth One is such a brilliant series that I made an exception and I’m really glad I did. I was pleasantly surprised… watch my video to find out why!

Earth One Wonder Woman Vol 1 Review

ww-earth-one-11f4e

I picked up a copy of Earth One Wonder Woman Volume 1 on Comixology last week and had a read of it.

Overall I generally liked it although there’s a couple of things that irked me and I’ll talk about both the good and the bad in this weeks comic book review:
